customer engagement defined

We now move to Customer Engagement as we now continue our Key Performance Indicator journey  as part of my year long series dedicated to demystifying KPIs.

Customer engagement is the lifeblood of successful marketing strategies. Understanding how customers interact with your brand online allows you to tailor their experiences in a way that meets their expectations, and subsequently, keeps them coming back.

This section of our KPI metrics year-long series explores what makes up customer engagement to help you understand how your audience connects with your brand.

Always at any time, if you have questions about anything I’m covering, a quick email will get you an answer.

Introduction to Customer Engagement Metrics: Building Strong Connections

Website Traffic: Measures the volume of visitors accessing your website, providing insights into your overall online visibility and reach. It is gauged by counting the total number of your website’s unique visitors.

Page Views: Represents the total number of pages viewed by visitors and indicates engagement and interest in your content. The total count of pages viewed forms the numeric metric.

Average Session Duration: Measures the average length of time visitors spend navigating your website, providing a good measure of your engagement levels. It is calculated by dividing the total duration of all sessions by the total number of sessions.

Social Media Engagement: Measures the level of interaction and engagement with your brand’s content on social media platforms. This is tracked by summing all likes, shares, comments, and other interactions on social media posts.

Email Engagement: Measures the effectiveness of email campaigns through metrics like open rates and click-through rates, reflecting how compelling and actionable our email content is.

Each of these categories will be addressed in greater detail with examples over the coming weeks, along with why they’re important to measure and actionable insights you can take to enhance your customer engagement strategies.

Next week, we’ll look go deeper into Website Traffic  to further understand their impact on your KPIs.
